In his fascinating book, Live Life on Purpose, Claude Hickman wrote, “The journey wasn’t created for you; you were created for the journey.”
I’m part of an incredible journey and I would like to invite you to join with me. I am a career missionary, serving Latvians who are affected by disabilities through a mercy ministry of Bridge Builders International, ”Designed to Live”.
After graduating from LeTourneau University in 2009 with a degree in Kinesiology, I went to graduate school to study Prosthetics and Orthotics. Upon completion and national board exams, I earned a Certification in Prosthetics and Orthotics (CPO).
Mine is an opportunity to serve a community of people that are often neglected. This ministry of mercy for BBI is an exciting opportunity to reach this community. This is a humbling opportunity to invest in authentic relationships with those affected by disability. Prosthetics and orthotics has given me the foundation to impact people’s lives physically; Jesus has equipped me with the foundation to impact them spiritually.
God began to impress upon me a desire to equip people with disabilities many years ago through relationships and experiences. I pursued the field of prosthetics and orthotics in view of using my skills and knowledge in a less privileged area. After years of study, testing, training and work experience, I am humbled to be used by God to be his ”hands and feet” in Latvia serving to make his name known while meeting physical needs.
I am driven by the conviction that everyone in Latvia, regardless of ability or disability, is entitled to be introduced to Christ.
Our VISION is to see Latvia transformed by the love and power of Jesus Christ.
Our PASSION is to help Latvians know, love and follow the Lord Jesus Christ with all of their hearts.
Our OBJECTIVES focus on Outreach, Mobilization, Leadership, and Mercy.
Outreach – We help Latvians know, love and follow Christ through creative target group initiatives, often in partnership with other ministries. Signature programs include Hope ’99 and Eagle’s Wings Camp.
Mobilization – We create vision and opportunity for American and Latvian individuals, churches and ministries to develop missionary hearts. As a result many strategic partnerships have been established between East and West focusing on many aspects of Latvian life and society. Signature programs include Mission Days and Mission Ireland.
Leadership – We strengthen Latvian leaders for effective ministry within Latvia and beyond. Signature programs include Prayer Days and significant involvement with Baltic Pastoral Institute.
Mercy – We reach out to the “least of these” in Latvian society. Signature programs include Celebrate Recovery Latvia which equips churches to serve those struggling with destructive ‘hurts, habits and hangups’; and New Hope Latvia which reaches out to orphans and orphanages.
Organizational Summary – Bridge Builders International is a Christian charity/mission that focuses on the nation of Latvia.
