Our Process
-
Pre-prosthetic care: Consultation and Limb preparation
The patient has an initial consultation with Designed to Live Ortopēdija upon referral from the physician. Approximately 2 weeks after amputation.
Compression Therapy
Upon doctor’s approval
Worn 23hrs/day
Reduce edema
Shape limb for socket
Desensitize / phantom pain reduction
Improve circulation / healing -
Limb capture and Test socket
A 3D scan of the limb is taken and a Test socket is designed and 3D printed.
The Test socket is made from transparent material that allows the CPO to evaluate the fit and comfort of the socket. Because the socket is the most important part of the prosthesis, additional test sockets will be made if necessary to ensure a correct and comfortable final prosthesis.
-
Trial / Temporary Prosthesis
Upon healing of the limb and while the patient awaits for approval for government funding for a prosthesis, we provide a Trial / Temporary prosthesis as a donation, thanks to our cooperation with Designed to Live Biedrība.
This prosthesis will be used to begin training, rehabilitation, and continue limb maturation.
During this time, Designed to Live Ortopēdija guides the patient through the process to be approved for government funding for a prosthesis by Vaivaru Tehnisko palīglīdzekļu centrs.
-
Final Prosthesis
Once the patient has been approved by Vaivaru Tehnisko palīglīdzekļu centrs (VTPC) for a prosthesis, the patient receives their final 3D printed prosthesis with the highest technology and materials according to the patient's needs and abilities.
This prosthesis is funded by VTPC through co-financing by the Compensation Mechanism
